What if I told you to pay me ten dollars and I would give you back one hundred? Would you do it? The same concept applies to investing in your nutrition by means of food preparation weekly or daily in your kitchen.
Why should you invest your time or money in food prep?
We think by eating convenience foods we're really saving time.

In the 45 minutes I spend in my kitchen preparing for my day ahead or doing this the night before I ensure my body will have the proper fuel to be unstoppable for the next 24 hours. This process could be done in 15-30 minutes easily and modified to fit any dietary needs, I just get a little extra with it, and that is to no one's surprise I’m sure!
My friends tell me I am the busiest, and most productive person they know. Why? It is the way I fuel my body! This is coming from the girl who was headed towards claiming disability because she could do nothing for several months in her chronic illness journey. The regimen I developed to heal my body has become the process that soars my potential to new heights daily.
In my morning prep routine I am simultaneously listening to school lectures or an audio book. That kills two birds with one stone and takes care of my study time daily. Also, another benefit, I have not been sick with a cold or flu in years (this is officially untrue, when I wrote this draft one month ago it was true ha). Now tell me how much time I have really saved these last couple years from not being down and out with illness!
What I am telling you is this, by preparing meals once a week at home or making yourself fresh juice every morning you will be preparing your body with nutritious food for the week or day ahead. You will be avoiding cheap, rancid oils in your food, you will decrease your sodium and refined sugar intake, you will exponentially increase your nutrient intake, you will have double the energy, and you will most likely save money! Most importantly, being conscious of the meals you're putting into your body will heal your chronic symptoms and set your body up for vitality long term.
Take ownership for the food you're putting into your body. Let me tell you a secret, restaurants and food manufacturers do not have your best interest in mind. They are selling you what tastes good (even adding MSG to enhance your addiction to their product) and what is cheap for them to make. Take back the power over your health through your food and stop relying on anywhere but your own kitchen and cutting board to nourish your body!

If you are currently meal prepping like a boss and still not feeling well or seeing your illness disappear, let's reevaluate what foods you are consuming. This was me, following my macros and various meal plans throughout the years but feeling worse and gaining weight. I was paying coaches a fortune and they were convinced I wasn't reporting “the dozen donuts I was binge eating on the weekends”. The problem was neither one of us understood how to use food to heal the body when dealing with autoimmune disease. I was putting in the work, just the wrong kind of work under an incorrect paradigm. I needed a whole different approach to food. Even when I was doing whole 30 and eating paleo, I was still extremely sick. Food is what will heal the body.
